What if I were to tell you he started off 0-3? What if I were to tell you he had less than a 9.3 percent chance of making the playoffs (Matthew Berry Love/Hate Week 3, September 2012)? What if I were to tell you these series of texts took place?:
(Night of September 3rd, 20123rd)*
Person A: How did I not win that game? Rob Gronkowski couldn't score 7 points. I'm done.
Corey Hewett: You can't quit, the season just started.
A: My team sucks. I don't want to play. I'm not going to make the playoffs
CH: I understand if you want to quit, but I am asking you to stay in to prevent Nick from winning the championship.
A: Fine
So, to sum this all up. This "he" or "Person A" was 0-3, hopeless, and only stayed in the league because I asked him for his help in order to take down the overwhelming favorite at the time, Nick Brown.
Fantasy Football wasn't too much fun anymore.
What if I were to tell you this person is now our current champion, Will Brown?!
Will started off horribly. He couldn't buy a win. This guy went from having high hopes of winning the belt to being last in the division and in the league.
So what did he want to do? QUIT.
Was it reasonable? SURE.
Did it make sense? SURE.
Was it right? NO.
ABSOLUTELY NO
See, the thing is that no matter what happens, you never quit. This fantasy football season is going to be whacky. It's not going to be easy for everyone. Players are going to get hurt, your "sure-fire" superstar won't perform well, and you will go against a team one week that just goes off. That's a typical season.
You just can't quit. You have to push through because who knows what will happen.
Just ask Will.
The lesson I want everyone to take from this is this: That you never give up. No matter what happens you just keep fighting. You fight till the end of the season.
If you start of 0-3, you keep going.
If you lose a game by one point, you keep going.
If your superstar tears his ACL, you keep going.
If you lose to 4 boys playing a sport they barely know how to play and you have been playing the sport your whole life, you keep going.
Today you are at the bottom but in January where will you be?
